Feeding?

So...I feed my fish these flakes

The instructions say feed once or twice daily as much as the fish can consume within a few minutes.
The lady at the pet store told me feed 3-5 flakes about every other day.

Which one is right? Are either one right?

When I fed mine flakes I just did a little pinch, but I switched to pellets because my fish liked them better. I feed mine every day except one day out of the week because it's good for their digestive systems. I can't believe that the instructions say that on the food; my fish would eat the whole container if I fed them as much as they could consume in a matter of minutes.lol

I'd say that Pellets are better! Way way way less mess!! my friend uses flakes and her fish's bowls are really messy from it!

Yeah, I used to get it EVERYWHERE.lol Like doggyhog said, flakes dirty the tank a lot faster than pellets do (you can scoop the pellets out if they aren't eating them).

Pellets are easier to get correct portions with.

I feed mine flakes every once in awhile but I wouldn't feed them flakes regularly.

I also feed pellets, I use the net to scoop any that my little guy does not eat (usually bc they are too big and I did not crush them enough)

For your other question: I was told to feel my guy about 3 pellets 2x a day but skip one day a week.

I feed all of my freshwater fishes a very tiny portion once a day, every day. I've had zero problems with this schedule over the last ten years. My Betta also gets a pea once a week.

My Goldfish food containers say to feed 2-3 times a day, as much as they can consume in 2-4 minutes. Ironically, the next sentence says "Do not overfeed".

Bettas should not be fed peas, since they're carnivores ;3 It can mess up their digestive track. I feed my bettas (those who eat pellets) 2 pellets before school, 2 before I go to bed. I feed the flake eaters once a day, about a pinch. I usually fast once a week.

Daphnia is more natural for them instead of peas.
