Well that's weird, are you sure it's not an Apple snail? I was certain Mysteries don't eat plants, unless you're staving her or something lol.

I did read up about it and found out that they seem to enjoy duckweed. I have other plants in my tank and they are all fine. Except for my duckweed thats all "poofed". Lol

Oh how interesting, lol. Perhaps throw some cucumbers in there from time to time to stave off it's hunger for duckweed lol

Yeah! I use raw cucumber and my snails and oto's love it! Sometimes they like blanched carrots or zucchini too though, got to find out which veggie they like. I have one Mystery who actually prefers sinking bottom feeder wafers over veggies so you'll just have to experiment is all but they are veggie eaters and you're supposed to supplement veggies in at least once a week so they don't starve

Also, google "snail jello for noobs without great kitchens" and that gives you instructions on how to make calcium rich food for your snails since they need calcium to produce a nice healthy shell it's pretty easy to make as well ^_^

Holy crap! I just looked up apple snails and they GET HUGE! I wanted to make sure the snail I got from a plant at petsmart was not an apple snail cause it ate some of the leaves on my nanjenshan. But I think I have a pond snail...That was until my betta Tuna ate it. LOL

so pond snails eat plants too? or just the dead leaves?

And how do you sink your cucumber peaces lilnaugrim? I have tried and I ended up smashing it into the drift wood.

Yeah apples get huuuge, I'm not sure if there is a good way to tell the difference other than the snail eating the plant. If you can get a picture though, that would help. Mysteries don't exceed like two inches I think or maybe it was golf ball sized where the apple gets up to baseball sized.

As for sinking the cucumber, I use just a small stone, not gravel but a actual rock and rubber band it to the rock and it sinks. Like so, this is a ramshorn snail BTW

what I have used is the little weights that come wrapped around the live plants you buy at the fish store.

Yup, lead weights work as well! Anything that sinks really and can be in the aquarium. I also use veggie clips but you have to buy them
