You may still want to consider buying a broad-spectrum antibiotic, especially if this starts to get any worse. I find that it's good to keep some on hand anyway, just in case.

It's good that you're getting him into better conditions though. <3

Hmmm.... are you using a water conditioner? That's needed, even for bottled water. Salt I wouldn't use unless he's sick. If you use salt all the time, he could develop salt-resistant bacterias that are harder to get rid of.

No, I haven't used water conditioner before. But I am going to out to buy some. I also just got some broad spectrum anti biotics, because he does seem to be getting worse.

I don't know if salt will necessarily encourage resistant bacteria, but I never use it except for disease/injury treatment. Some people add it regularly for good measure, but I say 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it!'. Plus at $5/pound, it's an unnecessary cost. It is really good to have some on hand though, it aids the function of most medications and is a good place to start if you don't know how to treat an illness or can't find meds for it right away. Furthermore, it has many other uses such as for hatching baby brine shrimp and disinfecting nets and such.
