these types of bettas are not supposed to be compared to their wild counterparts..you can't find betta like these in the wild..all you'll find are the short finned ones..and probably plakats..you won't see crowntails normally in the wild..these have been produced in fish farms by breeders through selective breeding..so they need different living conditions.. "

Yeah, and it's the same process that takes place when creating different breeds of dog. Everyone should keep that in mind as well. :D

Very True. I hate to say it but Wild freshwater fish or dull like dirt. lol. Sad but true because they need to blend in. Almost any fish with long flowing fins or bright colors was man made by DNA alterations or selective breeding. Saltwater fish area an exception, and boy are they beautiful! When you make something that was not as it was supposed to be, its going to be more susceptible to disease and illness. For example you can breed a male and female double tail or you get deformed babies. But I'm preaching to the choir here!
