helping out a friend

One of my best friends has a beautiful Betta. And he has been in a bowl for a while, and I had a ten gallon tank lying around from when I first bought my turtle that I figured I would give it to her as a birthday present. I went and bought gravel, hydor mini heater, decoration place that doubles and an air bubler and a small 10 gallon filter.

My question is more or less about the filter. Now my turtle creates lots of waste so he has a huge filter. The one I bought for her betta isnt a whisper filter because the only ones they had were for a 50 gallon, but it is similar to whisper filter for a ten gallon tank. Is this the correct filter or is there something better. And will she need anything else for the tank.

Oh yeah, and the tank has been thouroly cleaned.

A hydor Mini heater usually does jack for anything above a 3-4 gallon tank. I had one in a 5.5 Gallon, and it raised the temp maybe one degree? I would suggest something a little bit higher, perhaps. Maybe you could take the mini back?

I agree with Codered. I bought a min for my 4.75 and it only heated it up to 73*, but only when the house as at 70* or higher. Make sure to shop around for a good price but make sure not to buy a junk brand. Should run you $15-20.

I would recommend a Marineland stealth visitherm.
