Help!? What to do with betta's over christmas???

At christmas I'm going away for a 9 days, & I'm wondering what to do with my betta's with regards to feeding etc.
I've got a friend who can come over but obviously not on xmas day or boxing day so how do i make sure they have food?
Also will they be ok without a clean for a week????

honestly its like arranging child care isn't it!! LOL!

Well, bettas can go quite awhile without food, the real problem would be with the water changes. I would say clean it once before you leave, and hope for the best. IF you can find someone you trust to do a quick water change, just once, it would probably help a lot. I'm not completely sure on this topic, so don't just take my advice :3

You can get a three/four pack of 3 day feeders for them to use from christmas eve to the day after. I would do %50 water changes the day you leave.

Oh, those feeders are horrible, sorry to contradict. They fog up the water and make it very nasty. If the betta doesn't eat it, it can make the water bad for your fish. If you betta DOES eat it, it could very well eat it all at once and get SBD (swim bladder disorder). Bettas can go up to 4 weeks without eating, so I honestly would say that they'd be fine without eating.

For 9 days, I would change the water right before leaving and again as soon as you come home. As for feeding, it won't hurt for the fish to go without eating for a few days. You can have your friend come like every other day. This worked for me for 2 weeks. Feeding every other day cuts down on the amount of waste the fish produce and the water quality will be better.

I'd get someone to feed them about three times. Those feeding blocks are bad. I doubt my bettas would even eat them.

I wouldn't use the feeding blocks, either. They mess up your water from what I've heard.

thanks for all of your advise, i can get my friend to come over every other day & turns out they'll only be without food for 3 days (xmas eve / day & boxing day). I'll deffo do the water changes you suggest though.
I have 5 females in a 110litre tank & 1 male alone in a 20litre.
