Quick question

So over Christmas break I'm going to Japan for 10 days. What should I do about water changes on a 10 gallon? I have someone to feed Chance and Rowan, but should I teach them how to do a quick water change or will they be fine waiting the extra 3 days?

How exciting that you get to go to Japan!! I went there for Christmas 9 years ago and we loved it! If no one can do water changes for you then feed them sparingly. The less you feed them, the less waste polluting the tank.

OKay. I think I'll teach her how to use the gravel vac and leave some treated water for her.
Thanks.

And dramaqueen, I'm excited for it! Especially since we just got done learning about Japan in my geography class. :)

We flew from here to O'Hare airport then flew into Narita in Tokyo. We stayed for 2 weeks at an Air Force base where my brother and sister-in-law were stationed. The plane trip took 14 hours but they fed us every few hours. lol

wow!!!! thats exciting!!! i wanna go, take me! take me! lol

id think theyd be ok for the extra 3 days........BUT, if you KNOW they are going to do it right then teach them how. and maybe have them feed only 2 pellets a day, and stress NOT to give more even if the "look" hungry. lol

I think that they should be fine without a water change for 10 days. I'm not always the best at remembering to do them, and my fish are just fine. I'd be more worried about the person trying to do a water change and making a mess/doing it wrong.

Ya if i were you i would not ask anyone else to do a water change.... just feed them 2 pellets a day or less, like drama queen said, the less food the less poo :D

I say do a 100% or close to it the day before you leave and make sure the bettas get a strict diet schedule, i don't think it'll kill the fish not to have a water change for just 10 days. then when you come back you can clean the tank however you want :)

have fun in japan! :)
