Question Are these signs of stress?

Ive had my baby female for about a week in a half now and she has had these stripes on her since then. Are they stress related? Shes not old enough to breed yet so it cant be because of that.. Or do some bettas just have stripes on them? Please reply!

Stress stripes are vertical I believe. I seen many girls have dark stripes like that in the picture, but you might need an expert to be sure I am right. ^^;

I had one of my boy get freaked out and his stripes were white and went away very quickly.

Some girls have natural stripes, (are there any tank mates or high chemical levels.)

Juvenile/sub-adult bettas usually show horizontal striping. I don't believe it's stress related, probably related more to submission/camouflage.

They usually fade as the fish gets bigger.

LittleBettaFish Oh thank god! I was worried about her! Should she get more colorful as she gets older and loose the stripes? She shows hints of blues/purples/ and greens all the time

Yep. All my juveniles/fry show strong horizontal barring almost all the time. However, once they get bigger it fades away and their adult colouration intensifies.

No worries. I have been patiently waiting for all mine to start showing their full colouration as you get these tantalising glimpses and then the stripes are back.
