What type of heater should I get?

I'm going to get heaters for all of my tanks when I have extra money. I have three 1G's, a 1.5G and the rest are 2.5G's. I've seen Hydor Mini heaters but some people have said that they only raise the temperature 4-6 degrees and I'd like to be able to set the temp to make sure that it stays at that temp and so it doesn't fry my fish. I've seen that some people have 25W ones that they really like. When I got my first betta I was told that they don't need filters or heaters but I think it's time to get heaters. Any imput would be great! I know Walmart has the Hydor Mini heaters for $12 and I might get those for my 1Gs and the 25W ones for my 2.5Gs.

I have a Marineland stealth visitherm in a 2.5 gallon critter keeper. It's a 25 watt.

the smallest one i have is a hydor mini and it only raises 4 degrees in a 2 gallon.............but it at least helps

Where did you get that heater DQ? I'm going to be getting bigger tanks for the three in the 1Gs eventually, so I'll probably buy the Hydor heaters for them.

I had to order it from drsfosterandsmith, I think. It was $18 and $10 shipping and handling but I had no choice since I couldn't find it anywhere around here. It aggravates the heck out of me that Petsmart only carries the Marineland in a 50 watt or higher.

Walmart sells Tetra heaters, they're pre-set to 78 degrees. In my 2.5 gal, it keeps it between 75 and 78.

Yeah I saw those today, I had to go to Walmart to pick up some stuff and I looked again and Tetra has 2-5G ones but they're 50W. It says that they're set to keep it at 78 degrees, but I'm not sure if I want to get much of a wattage.

I have the Tetra 50 watt in my critter keepers and they are just fine. Just keep an eye on the temp.

Oh ok. Yeah, I would still keep an eye on the temp even though it says that it stays at a constant 78 degrees. Thanks everyone for the advice!

I have a 50W in a 2g... :) keeps it at a good, steady, temp. tttttttt
