How to cycle

How do I cycle a 5 gallon tank,and if its cyled do I need to do water changes?

Are you doing a fishless cycle or a cycling with fish in the tank? Yes, you will still have to do water changes and clean the mulm off of the gravel (even with a filter in the tank).

How much water you change depends on what your water parameters are.
