Big Bertha :(

She didn't make it. I lost Burt first and then Bertha disappeared about a week later. I keep holding onto hope that she's molting somewhere. Because Burt turned white and I kinda knew he was a goner but Bertha looked perfectly fine and healthy before she disappeared. I never found a body. But it's been 5 days and I'm getting some odd ammonia and nitrate spikes in my tank. I think I lost her. Poor BIG Bertha!

Does anyone know how long they hide when molting? Is five days reasonable?

Here's a video of her just before she disappeared. A tribute to Bertha!

I've been changing it 10-15% a couple of times a week aside from my regular vacuuming (which is about 20%). It's not huge spikes. Ammonia is .25 and Nitrate is 10. But it bothers me. It was perfectly stable two weeks ago and then Burt and Bertha went toe-up. I'd asked on the shrimp forum about Flourish plant food because it has copper and I'm thinking that might be what killed them both. Poor things.

Really? Well that makes me feel a lil better. I thought I'd killed them. Maybe Tango is a night-time shrimp hunter or maybe she's molting and will turn up soon. Thanks guys. :)
