Question Betta has fin rot

My betta has fin rot and I have been treating him with meds. How will I know when he is ready to go from his 1.5 gallon quarintine tank to his 3 gallon regular tank?

Thanks,
Melli

I would use aquarium salt instead of meds. I usually hold off on medications until I realize that the salt isn't working. You'll see when the fins are starting to grow back, the new fin is a transparent white. Salt baths are safer and much better than medications because some fish can get bad reactions from them.

When you see clear ends of his tail, that's when you stop. That is new finnage growth. How bad is his fin rot? Is he still active? If it isn't bad yet, I would use Aquarium Salt, 1 Teaspoon per gallon. Meds can stress out fish sometimes and they usually don't work untill you fix what is causing the disease.

Good call guys. Just turn the heat up a touch, dose aquarium salt and chage the water religously until his fins are well on their way. Also re-examine your maintenance schedule so that you can prevent this from happening again in the future.
