New fish is not eating HELP!

I just bought a female betta. she was the last one at the store. she's been here for three days and she will not eat. the first night i gave her food she ate it right away. she hasn't eaten since. someone suggested that the food is too large but I gave her a smaller piece and she still didnt eat it. im afraid she might die of starvation if i dont figur eout whats wrong with her. PLZ HELP!!!!

Bettas may be picky but they sure won't starve themselves! All of my bettas took a while to 'pellet-train' but it is definitely worth it because pellets are an essential staple.

Bettas can go for weeks without food so just be patient and do remove uneaten food when it sinks to the bottom so that it won't pollute the tank. I use a slurpee straw for this purpose. Offer her a few (3 or so) pellets twice a day until she eats. Don't break down and try tempting her with freeze-dried or frozen food... she will soon refuse to eat anything else which is like you eating chicken for the rest of your life: not very healthy!

Good luck!

She's probably still adjusting to her new home. It's pretty common for them to not eat for the first few days or so. Just give it time.

Yeah, one of my males started eating after a week that I got him. Most of them eat right away and others take a couple days.

Some bettas take longer than others to start eating in a new tank. Healthy bettas can go weeks without food. Just keep on offering it to her and she will finally eat.
