Can flourescent lights be put into a 10 gal hood? I bought some from the pet store, they're 10watts, and I had them in for like 10 minutes and one of them smelled kinda funny and then started smoking?
Did I do something terribly wrong?? Or was it just a fluke? There is some hardwater deposits on the inside of the hood, could that cause the smoking??
Here are pics of what I used.
im guessing its the bulb itself thats defective if only one did it.
you can put those in a hood, as long as they fit, obviously, and that you dont exceed the hoods wattage.
i dont think a 10 watt should exceed it, check your hood and see if u can find that info. it should state it near the sockets
Yeah I'm thinking it was either the bulb, or the buildup of hardwater that caused it. The bulb burned out so I returned it and got a refund. I wanted to just exchange it, but they were out of them and probably won't be getting them in until next week. Is it ok that I leave the one bulb on, or will it burn out more quickly? Thanks!
