No no no!!! My first and most magnificent betta has been fighting something which I've been treating for months now. He's been great the past two weeks maybe... But I just got home and he's sitting on a plant at the top of the tank and he's bloated and lethargic.
He's in a 5 gallon. Temp is 80F, I just retested the water and everything is perfect. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 10 nitrates, ph 7.8 I do weekly water changes of approx. 40%
My thoughts:
Salt bath and treatment with Furan II (treats gram positive and gram negative bacterial issues). I'm going to lower the water in the tank so he has an easier time staying at the surface.
or
Treat with another sulphur based med. bc it doesn't look fungal.
Or should I get an antibiotic at this point?? That's about the only thing I haven't done bc I've heard that these are last resort meds.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I really really really really don't want to lose this guy.
Thanks all!
