RIP Tetsuya....

Well...I kind of saw it coming, but none the less I'm very upset. Tetsu was one of my first females(along with Nami, Phoenix, and Mira)and her name had special meaning to me(long story). She was so unique with her black coloring and navy blue eyes....put on a tough front, but was a real pushover and never actually hurt any of the other girls. She was very close to Nami(their names go together, another long story)and always wiggling to get my attention when I'd come to watch the Sorority.

A little while ago, I noticed she wasn't coming up to eat with the others and after a couple days of not seeing her eat at all, I removed her from the Sorority. I tried pellets in every form, soaked, crushed, simply slit in half.....she refused them. at first I got her to eat bloodworms and brine shrimp, but eventually she refused those all together too. Apart from not eating, she looked healthy and remained responsive....no stringy or discolored poop.... nothing that would indicate there was something wrong with her.

I continued to offer her food int eh form of bloodworms, brine shrimp(occasionally some live from the hatchery I had for the babies), and various forms of pellets...but she wouldn't eat. Obviously she couldn't go without food forever.....she slowly weakened and stopped responding to me like she used too a few days ago. And tonight, when I went to check on her she'd passed on to the big rice paddy field in the sky I'm very upset....and frustrated at not knowing the cause of her death. Gah, I feel like such a horrible fish mommy....

.....Sorry about the rambling....

Here are a couple of my fav pics of her:

She was really pretty. I'm so sorry for your loss, it's so hard when you don't know how to help them.

I'm so sorry you lost her.

It is frustrating when you don't know how to help them because you can't pinpoint what's wrong. I'm going through the same thing with one of mine :(

Sometimes we just lose them in spite of our best efforts.

I'm so sorry about Tetsuya! It IS frustrating when we don't know the cause of death and so we blame ourselves. My Blue Bonnet died a mysterious death, too. As several others have said, these things happen. If only they could tell us what's wrong.

Aww, thanks so much you guys :'( it was really sad waking up this morning and going to check on her....then realizing she wasn't there. I just really wish IU could have known what killed her.....I suppose I feel like such a bad fish mommy because lately fish have been dying left and right on me.....
