tank cover issues

For Christmas I got tanks for all of my bettas. They are Marina Half Moon betta tanks. They are 3 liters (is that a gallon?). The tank is pretty cool although I thought it was going to be bigger.

BUT the cover that comes with it only covers half of it (in a half moon shape)! Because it is smaller than I think I want to fill it up to at least 1 inch from the top.
I'm so afraid my betta will jump out or my cat will see the new tank and try to go fishing.
Do you all think the top is okay? Or what should I put over it so it is completely covered. This is the tank http://www.petco.com/product/110575/...t=OnSiteSearch

Thats a small for a betta you might get bigger tanks as for your cover issue maybe you can cut out the shape of the tank out of wood or plactic

Yeah, 3L is about a gallon. It is a neat tank, but I would get a 2G with a full hood on it. Bettas can and will jump so he could jump out of that tank because there is no cover for it. Yesterday morning I woke up and saw my little female on my big females side and I have a full hood on it. My poor little girl lost almost all of her fins. :( Females are known for jumping, but don't underestimate males!lol

I would cover it with plastic wrap and poke some holes in it so they can get air.

I'm afraid it's too small....3 liters is less than a gallon.
For now, put some mesh over the top.

I got three of those tanks for Christmas so I can't get bigger ones. I could have sworn the website has said 5L. But apparently I was wrong, hence the small size of the tank.
But I will do what Dramaqueen said to do and cover it with plastic wrap with holes.
