No, most people DON'T breed same color bettas, usually different colored ones. And I see solid colors WAY more than I see multi's! And multicolored bettas are usually fine to breed.
You can look at the other threads and see what some users are breeding, they are usually really different, from what I've seen.

um no. Breeders breed for good color and finnage. Mixing colors creates mutts. For u I would breed mutts since they're easier to breed. But most top breeders breed solid colors.

Mutts: mixed breeds and colours. Usually you can't tell much about these bettas genetical background and how good for breeding they'll be, but hey! If you think your betta is healthy and has good proportions, go ahead!

You can breed any colour female with any colour male and you should not have a problem but firguring out the outcome of the fry will be a different story. The article says not to breed different colour bettas because you will get non pure colours and these are some what hard to find homes for etc, and they dont want you to add to the betta in a cup routen.
