Question & help with name?

This is my new guy, which i've posted about before. Any ideas on a name?? I can't think of any. He is wicked friendly and happy. Also, I can't tell if he has tail rot? (I got him form petco and he was in good health when i got him, peppy and all, but his tail was still ragged looking). i can't tell if he bit his tail when he was in his tiny cup or if he has fin rot. how can i tell and how would i treat it? the other guy (Osama) on the other side of the divider does not have any fin issues.

thanks!

Clean water and aquarium salt will help treat his fins. The great thing about aquarium salt is that you can add it even to a tank with healthy fish, it perks them up.

Sort of a weird name, but I'd call him Passion Fruit. Or maybe Sherbert. :P

Thanks... i'll pick up some salt tomorrow. Just follow the directions on the carton?

Ha! I love [the fruit] passion fruit! I think I like sherbert tho! his colors do kind of remind me of the mixed sherbert...

Ha ha ha! He's cute! You could call him... Pinkie or Bert (short for Sherbert)!

He's very pretty! I love the name Sherbert for him. Like Jupiter said, just add some aquarium salt and give him some salt baths and the fins will heal up in no time. :) Also, warm weather helps the healing process go faster. It should be about 78-80 degrees.

Thanks guys :) I think I will go with Sherbert, Bert for short. I just got a new guy at Petco - a yellowish/orangish/blackish/metalic guy! Should be interesting to see what he turns into once he is comfortable and gets his colors back! His name is Bumble (short for bumblebee, and also the Bumble from Rudolph :)

How do I give salt baths?

My water is approx 70 degrees. My house is usually between 60-64 in the winter (I live in Maine) and the 10 gal heater only keeps it about 70 degrees :-/ Will this still be ok for his tail, just longer to heal?

Thanks!

Unfortunately 70 degrees is too cold for them. 75 or 76 degrees F should be the lowest temperature. There's a thread on here about how to give salt baths. Here's the thread:http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=25297 I can't wait to see pictures of Bumble!!
