I recently gave my betta Poseidon a 2 1/2 gl. tank so i have an old gallon tank still. I am planning on getting another betta, i have my money and everything, I am going to name him neptune. My dad says I can, but my mom doesnt want anymore bettas (I have one and my sisters have one each that = 3 bettas) my sisters don't take care of theirs but i take care of mine, its in my room. I have gone so far as to create a powerpoint to try to get my mom to say yes. any sugestions to convince her?
tell her how happy you could make the fish. then while at walmart or petco, run off to the betta section, tell her if you find a pretty fish and how sad it looks!
While I don't advise do this....at all, I actually just go and buy the betta before my mom can say anything ^^; But you prooooooobably shouldn't do that....I'm not even sure how I get away with it :P
Anyway, before you get another betta lets think about some stuff....a gallon really is too small, and can't be safely heated. If you have the money, first get another 2.5 gallon+ setup so you can provide a nice home for your new guy......or upgrade your current boy to a 5+ gallon(which can be divided).
But something else to consider....what about your sisters bettas? My mom has a betta that I take care of because she...well, won't clean his home xD(though she loves him, fees him, and talks to him.....just has more important things on her plate, so I take care of cleaning for her). Why not take care of theirs instead of getting a whole new fish? Perhaps if they really don't care, you could even take over one or both of them and save up for a ten gallon, then divide it two or three ways ;)
As for convincing your mom....do extra stuff around the house, do little extra things here and there, point out how well your betta is doing compared to your sisters'....all that cheesy old school stuff xD Usually it works pretty well.

Haha I do the same thing DragonFish! But, I'm 21 and I'm going to be moving out after college.lol But, you could do lots of chores, helping your mom out, making sure you do all your hw so she doesn't think that having another fish would affect it etc. Good luck!
I agree with DragonFish about trying to help with the care of your sisters' bettas. Perhaps if your mom sees that you're taking wonderful care not only of your own betta but also theirs, she'll be more open to getting another one.
