Help, i don't know what i can do for him :(

So i've had my betta since about 2007 so he's about 2 years old and since maybe around march he started to act a little differently than usual. and lately it's been getting worse and worse. So here are his symptoms:

1. He lays down on his side at the bottom of the tank
2. Sometimes he stands straight up at the bottom, corner of the tank
3. it seems like where his head is, it is heavy like he can pick himself up
4. by his end part his scales are dark, like dirt
5. his fins on his head seem to be a little raised or swollen

his eyes though look normal, his blue but where it is black (corneas) i did look under a light they do have a red tint to it.

His color is about the same as when i got him he is pale pink. i thought his was albino at first but then i saw his eye colors...

and he doesn't really eat and i really don't see poop.

i think i made a few mistakes though the first year i got him i kept him in a small tank about a palm and half length and a palm width. but then when i came home from school i put him in a 5 gallon tank but he got used to that and would swim around, and ever since he hasn't been able to go to the top anymore i recently, yesterday, put him in a smaller tank than his original one so that itd be easier for him to get to the top for air and food.

I don't know what to do now im really conscerned. He's a real fighter though. is there any medicine i can get for him? should i get one of those food tablets to keep in the bottom? or is this just the end for him. i just don't like seeing him like this it looks like he's suffering and idont want him going through this...please help

I'm not sure whats wrong, but for one thing his tank needs cleaned, there is a lot of uneaten food mixed with the rocks.

picture #2 - holy. is that normal? the "neck" is completely red and looks bleeding.
Maybe its a rash, or is that normal for a pale betta?

After closer inspection it looks almost like eternal bleeding O_o or a bruise. any fights lately?

thank you for the responses...

new2bettas: that's just the bottom of my counter is that color...ive cleaned the tank a few times this week already no worries

and katana: yeah sometimes when he gets stressed that red does get a little stronger but he's always had that since i got him, i guess because he is pale you can really see the insides...he hasnt' had any fights because he's old and he's neve been in contact with any other fish

ugh i hope he gets better...

Ampicillin (if you can find any). If your in the US get the Gel-Tek Ampicillin from . I'd move him to a hspital tank (just a bare tank with a heater). Add methylene blue (available at your local fish store) and the ampicillin and some aquarium salt. Keep him clean and comfortable and see what happens.
