Smile New Betta Owner with a pretty mature tank. I would really enjoy some Pros and Cons.

Just got my new Betta Kawaii yesterday from a pet store that I trust, I am not sure what type of Betta he is though. I have a tank that is nearly 7 months mature with a bubbler, filter, heater, and large rocks for decorations. Kawaii's tank mates are a small otto cat and a rather large mystery snail that so far he seems to enjoy. At least, I haven't seen any fin or skin nipping yet. He has eaten very little but from your forum I now understand that he is still getting used to the tank which is awesome. I have betta pellets and flakes for some other fish in the past, plus algae disks and lettuce for my snail and otto cat. I would love some advice on things I should change or do better, and if anyone could maybe tell me what type of Betta he is that would be wonderful! Thanks for the helpful site and any replies!

How big is the tank? It sounds like you're well on your way, though. You have plants and a hiding spot for him?

well my tank is 5 gallons, and he likes to hide in the little cave that the rocks make and behind the filter. I was really amazed at how quickly he found those spots too.

Ahh, sounds like you've got a wonderful home for your new buddy! I'm sure hes enjoying it! ;) Yup, it could take him a little while to get used to his home and start eating....my Jirou refused food for a few days and it took Shiro-chan a while the figure out how to eat the pellets Watch him though! He may go after those algae wafers xD

And I must comment, no matter how cheesy this is going to sound. Kawaii is such a Kawaii name! xD <3

thank you so much dragonfish! And i love the names on your fish too! They are so creative! Truthfully the algae wafers are his to have because they are too big for my otto mostly. Thanks everyone for all the positive-ness! And dragonfish is that your fish in the picture? He is gorgeous!
