A few questions about my new betta

My betta, Joshy Wolfgang, hasn't been floating on his side anymore! He is now right side up and he isn't pale anymore. I was just wondering if it was normal for him to hide in his plant all day close to the surface and not eat. I got him on the 30th and he hasn't touched any food I gave him. I tried flakes, pellets, bloodworms. I don't think he's lathergic, because he doesnt come out sometimes and swim around for a minute or so and goes right back to his hiding place. Is this normal for bettas?
How long does it normally take for a new betta to eat again?

Sometimes it takes them a week to get used to their surroundings. As soon as he's comfortable enough, he'll start eating. Just keep offering him the pellets and if he doesn't eat them, make sure you scoop the food out. Yes it's very normal for them to hide in plants because that's where he feels most comfortable. One of mine will bury himself inside of the silk plant and sleep. Whats the temperature of the tank?

It's either 74 or 75. i have a heater in there, but I don't think that heater is working very well...

Ok, that's not bad. It should be at least 74 to 75. Just give him time to get accustomed to the tank.

Is it normal for bettas to float on their sides? He wasn't doing that today but yesterday he was...

Its not normal for them to float on their sides but I wouldn't worry if he isn't doing it anymore.. if he does it again however I would look into it.

Like they said it takes some time for them to feel comfortable... and even then bettas love their plants and will spend a good amount of time hiding in them.

Hmmm, he still hasn't eaten anything and its been about 5 days. When I got him there was a lot of uneaten food in his cup...so who knows when the last time he ate was...I offered him freeze dried bloodworms and pellets and he hasn't touched one bite. When should I be worried? lol

I had one that didn't eat a full week. I would just keep offering him the food and if he doesn't eat it, make sure you scoop it out so it doesn't contaminate the water. Unfortunately you can't force them to eat or shove it down their throats.lol :P

The only thing you really can do is wait. Uneaten food could be a sign that he has some type of disease but if he is swimming and acting healthy I would just wait for him to start eating.
