Got a new tank as a gift - Not sure what I think of it

I got this tank as a belated christmas gift from my grandmother today. And I'm not sure what I think of it. Opinions? It's 3 gallons, has like color changeable lights and stuff. I mean it seems like a decent size for one betta. I set it up and took some picures, so give me you opinions!

I had this tank. I loved the fact it had so many light settings. But I returned it because Flair kept going down the center tube and I could never see him in it (I had it sitting in the corner of my room). I also had to return it because the lid wasn't secure, and I have 3 indoor cats who would love to get to it. But it was a good little tank.

I have a 2 gallon one. I don't use the airstone because of what dr2b said about her fish going into the tube. I may put pantyhose over it to prevent that if I ever decide to use the airstone. And yeah, the lid is not secure.

No the hood isn't secure. So far Stella has shown no interest in trying to go down the tube :) She seems to like it in there and I love that I can have a pink light for my only female betta! :D

Like I said, the reason I bought it was the lighting. I loved how I could change it with my mood lol. But the first night I put Flair in it, I left the room and came back 5 minute later to an empty tank. I was like "uhhh where is my fish?" and finally after freaking for a few minutes lifted the tank up to see him swimming underneath it like it was completely normal. I think the hood wouldn't have been a problem if I didn't have cats.

I thought about putting pantyhose over the opening of the tube but I don't see any way of doing it.
