Silk plants from Michaels?

Hey everyone.
I am currently working on a brochure about bettas for my parents to read all about care and maintenace and such. So if all goes as planned, the stubborn father shall be convinced and I wil be able to get a betta. Anywho, right next to the Pet-notso-smart is a Michaels that supposedly sells silk flowers and plants and junk. Since the silk plant selection in the petstore is limited to 2 are the silk plants from Michaels okay to buy? I think that there can't be any metal right? Do you just run them under hot water and stick them in?
Thanks!
P.S- sorry about the lengthly post, i am very bad at getting straight to the point! ;)

I use plastic plants in mine. But i would imagine they are safe if they aren't painted or have glitter on them, or dyed.

I would keep them in water for a full 24 hours to make sure that it won't bleed.

I want to use Michael's plants in mine too... they are cheaper than Petsmart.

Be really careful with the silk plants from Michaels. You are right, make sure there is no metal. The soaking them for 24 hours is a great idea too.

I would probably clean them with REALLY hot water.

And some of those are scented. Try to avoid those. Who knows how much cleaning it'll take to get the perfume chemicals off.
