I totally forgot to introduce Turkey to everyone! He got the name Turkey because I got him the day before thanksgiving, and his story is a sad one :'( A friend of mine got to the barn one day, we rode the horses, and hung out for awhile and were there for maybe 3 hours.
When we're getting ready to leave she says "Hey you have betta fish right?" and I was like "yeah" and she tells me that she got a betta as a gift the day before and didn't really want it and was going to bring it back to petco, then she asked me if I would like him.
I told her I would love to take him and asked her when she wanted to drop him off. And she goes "you can take him now, he's in the car" It was only a little over 30 degrees out and he had been sitting in that car in the cold for AT LEAST 3 Hours! :;fru She gets him out and the poor guy was freezing, he was 1/2 way on his side and gasping.
I immediately brought him home with the heat on high. Then I put some hot water in the sink and put his cup in there to float so he would slowly warm up. Eventually he started swimming around again, so I slowly started acclimating him to his new 2.5gal bowfront tank. And he's ok now, he still seems to have some swimbladder issues, he'll kind of tip over and swim sideways and prefers to sit on his big silk leaf plant for long periods. But at least he's alive and not a frozen bettacicle.
