Betta Bulbs

I got some betta bulbs at Petco. So far one of them has sprouted and has grown about 6 leaves around the base and one long stalk that grows up above the water's surface with a white tip/bud at the end.

Is this normal? How should it be growing?

I've heard that they can grow pretty tall.

that with the white tip at the end is what produces seeds.
assuming those are aponogeton ulvaceus hybrid (which is what is sold at PetsMart) then after the seeds are released the plant will go into dormancy for a while.

I would recommend cutting it off so that won't happen. :)

I have the same plant.. It put up about 3 stalks and now its still growing.. I just divided it from the rhizome (but then my bulb rotted :-/)

Its growing normally.. I would just leave it be.. cutting the "flower" off could help.

hmm. I had both of mine grow the stalks and I cut them off, and they're still doing fine.

Yeah I don't really think it matters if you cut them off.. mine just released the pollen then kinda died off so I plucked off the flower part. But I never had the plant go into dormancy.. at least yet LOL.

I think the betta bulbs are funny..two of mine sprouted (which is a miracle in itself) and out of the same pack I got two different apons! I still don't know what the other is called.. but it doesn't flower.
