Turning off the Filter

I have an external power filter on one of the tanks in my room. I hate it. Sometimes the splashing water keeps me up at night. Do you guys think it would be okay to turn it off just at night? It's a ten gallon with only 1 betta fish in it. Just asking opinions since it's really starting to annoy me.

As long as it isnt cycled (which youll lose if you keep it off), then meh, why not.

Keep it on as long as you can stand, though, to avoid 100% changes!

Paris,

I urge you to keep a filter on all the time It will keep your water fresher and -- after your tank cycles -- will reduce the number/frequency of water changes.

Maybe choke down the amount of water going through your filter. If it's not adjustable, try a piece of clean nylon over the input tube....

Worst case, maybe a smaller filter?
