Whisper EX30 filter

So my old Whisper 20 died last night, and I went to petco this morning and got myself a Whisper EX30. Its a nice filter, and very quiet, but I've looked all over and can't find any way to control the flow. My poor betta has to swim against a strong current when he comes to the top of the tank . Has anyone else ever used this filter, and if so, is there a way to control the flow? Thanks!

Im thinking about moving my betta back to his old 5 gallon tank, i cant even feed him with this filter because the water flow takes the food away too quickly. Is there any way to rig the filter to slow the flow down?
