Talking Getting another one! :)

I decided that Freed is a lovely little critter, and I'd like to get another betta.

This time, I want to fulfill my dream of having a beautiful halfmoon!
Not that Freed isn't pretty with his tail mostly healed, but I've always admired halfmoons from afar, and I think it's high time I got one. ;)

I've just bought a 2.5 gal tank with a built in filter and light.

My questions:

Do you have to cycle a 2.5?

And what stores do you guys know of that carry halfmoons and take decent care of them?

(sorry about the huge proliferation of posts from me, by the way, I must be annoying XD)

You don't have to cycle any tank, it's just recommended. It's your choice if you want to cycle it.

Petco is the only local store that I know of that sell HM.

Yayyy that's soo exciting!! Yeah, Petco's the only one that sells HM's near me also. I don't use any filters for my 2.5G's. If you don't have a filter, you'll just have to clean the water more often. I do 2 100% water changes a week, but you can get away with 1 100% water change a week.

It says it has a built-in filter, so should once a week be enough? :>

Petco noted.

I think once a week would be enough.

Yup, I do once a week 100% wc's on my 2.5 gallon tank.

You don't need to cycle a 2.5 gallon tank. Mine isn't. I do a 50% WC and a 100%WC per week.

Petco seems to sell the most amazing fish. We don't have that here, though. There's a fish store here called Big Al's that occasionally gets 'different' bettas-you just have to be lucky.
