Babies are here!

Hi all~

Well many of the eggs fungused and were yucky and many newly-hatched fry also died from the fungus. (Because Aqua was not in there) But there are a few troopers, I'm not sure how many but at least two. I did clean out most of the fungused eggs but I don't want to be messing with it too much when the living babies are still so fragile. They'll get their first meal of bbs as soon as they are free-swimming. Here they are!

I'm so sorry about your fry. I thought I heard that methylene blue can be used to prevent eggs from fungusing. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I've heard that too. I didn't even think to try that. Thanks though!

Here is an article that tells a little about it. It doesn't give the dosage, though. Maybe the bottle will. Fungus in Fish (Saprolegnia)

Thanks for the article! I'm not sure if this is the same kind of fungus.

You're welcome. I don't know if it's the same but maybe it will work.

So where would I purchase methylene blue? I'd siphon out all the fungus and siphon in clean water if only the babies weren't so tiny and fragile right now.

Update: I couldn't find any babies this morning when I first looked, but after a second look I discovered three LIVING babies! I gave them some bbs but they weren't interested---they must still be feeding off their yolk sacs. I plan on siphoning out some more of the dead babies and eggs today, being extrememly careful not to get the living ones.
