Going up for air..

I just put my betta, saké, in his tank a few minutes ago, and I conditioned the water and everything, but he keeps going up for air and is acting restless. I'm worried I did something wrong. I don't want to kill the little fellow!!! He was originally in one of those really tiny, plastic containers, and I filled the tank with fresh, tap water it's maintaining about 78-80 degrees. I conditioned it, but I only waited an hour after I conditioned it until I put him in the aquarium. Can someone please help?

Maybe hes getting used to his home? Maybe he'll calm down in a bit

so you don't think I did anything to harm him? I think he's dodging after his reflexion also.

I would be more concerned with him if he was being lethargic and sinking to the bottom rather than being over active when out in a new environment. The gulping for air frequently would be due to he's high activity level he's using up a lot of oxygen when he is more active. I think just watch his behaviour closely over the next few days he will probably calm down or he may just be a very active little guy.
