Testing Water - GH / KH

I just bought the Hagen Mini Master Test Kit for $50 (Canadian Currency)(It's a liquid test kit). Im still waiting for my Hydor Mini Heater (I have a 2 gal aquarium - freshwater aquarium). But when I get it I will want to test my GH & KH after adding the BETTA conditioner. I read the manual and it doesn't say what the Betta's GH & KH needs to be at. Can anyone please help me? Thank You!

Bettas like soft water, so the softer the better.

So that means that the GH needs to be between 0 mg/l and 60 mg/l. What does the Carbonate Hardness (KH) needs to be at?
<20 mg/l
20 - 80 mg/l
>80 mg/l
Between 105 - 125 mg/l, it says its only for saltwater.
Thank again for the help!
