is it safe to transform a saltwater tank to fresh?

I like this tank, but has been salt water...can I use it and the equipment with it for a beta and some tropicals? My boyfriend thinks i am nuts right now but I do want a bigger tank..so I can have some other fish. Looks like a pretty good price too right? Thanks!

That's funny, I was going to ask the same thing. My dad has a 48G in the basement that's one of those special tanks just for salt water (I can't remember the name) and I would love to start a sorority but he might sell it to his friend. But, if he still has it when I move out, I'll probably take it with me.

I think it should be okay, as long as you remove everything and wash the tank well.
