I went to my LPS and I've been noticing this really pretty red betta that's a different red than I have seen around here. I went in there today to buy him and realized he has Ich. I figured I might as well get him, so that IF he does end up dying from it, atleast he would be in a clean, warm enironment.

I am pretty sure it's ich. All over his fins he has little white dots, I haven't noticed any on his body. None of his fins are risen yet. So hopefully, this is still at stage #1 and I can attack this stuff before it gets worse.

I already know what to do, and I will be putting him in my hospital tank with salt water, and putting the water at 84 degrees. I just hope he doesn't die. He's such a pretty fish.

Wish me luck everyone, this is the first time, in 8 years of owning betta's that I've encountered Ich.

I tried to get pictures of it, but the white dots didn't show up.

it doesn't look that bad from the picture, so hopefully he should be ok good luck though, and keep us updated! he's such a pretty guy, i can only imagine what he will look like when he's better.

It sure does look like ich to me. He's in good hands now, so hopefully he'll be all right. One of my girls had ich a while back, and the amount of spots she had looks to be in the same ballpark as what you're dealing with. She turned out fine.

I'm sure he'll be fine. Please tell me you brought the Ich to the shop owners attention. That's just so sad they would let him get sick like that!

I'm surprised you haven't encountered Ich in so long.. it seems like it happens as often as kids catch colds.

Well, bad news. He passed away. I really hope it wasn't my fault... I introduced to him to his new tank with a heater and I came home the next day and he was dead. :( How depressing. && yes, the ich was pointed out by the girl that worked there actually, because I used to be friends with her, I hadn't put close attention on his tail until she pointed it out. >_<
