HELP!!! Is this a male or a female???????!!!

I bought this......'betta' a few months ago, it was in a tank at the aquarium with about 20-30 females & listed as female, so i bought 4 including this one. I have put it in a tank which now has 15 females in it.
Recently alot of my females have been shredded to peices, can't work out why, & thought once you put 6 or more in a tank the need to be alpha phases out.
But this paticular 'GIRL' seems to be quite agressive, its the only one that flares alot at the others and seems protective over food etc.
I've had to remove some girls as the seem to have severe damaged fins, not suggesting its this one causing it.....

....but this evening, i took a good look at this one, its the only one out of all i believe to be girls thats totally pristine in shape reguarding fins and something about the shape of the head & face makes me wonder.... so the question is.......

Is this a BOY?????



the pictures not very good, i took it with my phone quickly before seperating it to a breeding net, i can take a better one if needed.

....oh & just in case, its the dark / fish im talking about.

well its hard to tell from that pic but it looks like my female some bettas just dont have the personality to be part of a sorority, how big is the tank? are there lots of plants and hideing spots?

Check underneath your fish for a white egg spot. That's probably the easiest way of telling. Gender aside, some bettas are just more aggressive than others. They can all have different personalities.

It looks to me like it might be a plakat male.

Check for the eggspot. Some females are just more aggressive than others, and aren't meant to be housed in sororities. If she doesn't have an eggspot, could be a plakat male as dramaqueen said.

I agree, check for an egg spot, though some males will have them as well so thats not the most reliable way of telling genders....is there any chance of getting a good flaring shot?

Bur from the picture provided, it does look like a PK male to me....

Oh god, ok im gonna look later & will take another picture. I don't have anymore room if its another male! ......but i'm sure i can sort something out!

Well I don't think it matters if it's a male or a female. Even if it is a girl, it seems too aggrestive to be kept with your other females. You'll have to keep it seperate anyway.

Looks like a male plakat to me. The colors are much too bright for a female.

Well.....firstly sorry i aint got back with a decent picture, however I do have some news which might make it easier to determine.....I've just come back after a night out & realised (don't forget it is seperated in a big breeding net at the moment in the girls tank) there is bubbles...the beginning of what looks like an attempt to build a bubblenest!!!!
So....its either a very odd female or can i now safely say it's a boy!!!!?
