Some females will make nests, I've even hard several stories about females dropping eggs, making nests, and tending to those eggs all on their own.....but I'm pretty sure that your guy is male from what I can see of the ventral length in that picture. I'd need a closer up side profile pic(flaring would be awesome)to know for sure though ;)

I agree with some of the others. It looks like a plakat male. From what i know is that they are really aggressive.

I have the same issue, my father told me the fish was female (I pressume he got that information from the store), anyway it has made many bubble nests and is EXTREMELY aggresive... It looks very similar to your fish so I am thinking it's a plakat male. The above photo is my fish.

Right, I managed to get a kinda better picture of the female / male.....

so im not sure....since ive seperated it, its become really quiet.

Now, I also have two other which I'd like you to check out, the blue / purple one is extremely vicious, she / he goes for everything, gouramis, other females all the time, she is now seperated aswell.

ok....so i got another two pics of the suspected boy..... see what you think?

I'm going to divide a tank today for him to live in with my 'extra' boy, in order to get this boy (if its a boy) out the girls tank.
