Can i help a poor betta?

Basicly my LFS has a tank of female bettas and they are in such bad shape. One little lady really caught my eye but i didnt want to buy her without being able to offer a better environment.
I plan of keeping her in a 2.5gal tank with a heater until shes better and then moving her to my community tank which is 125L - 33Gals
So the question is could she live with 8 cherry barbs, 7 platys and 3 amano shrimp?
Im thinking the platys woudlnt be a problem but maybe the cherrys?
Also she wouldnt eat the shimp would she?
x

Be careful with shrimp they can nip at bettas but other than that she should be fine. Glad your rescuing!

I think what you are planning would be just fine.

Cherry barbs are pretty peaceful and shouldn't bother the betta, as for the amano shrimp, I really doubt he/she would bother a betta in a tank that big. In a smaller tank maybe, but there is plenty of room for all and you really should not have any problems.

Go get her and give her a good home

Well my spare tank just broke so there goes that idea. Unless I can pop her straight in the big one? X

I wouldn't put her into a community tank until you know she's healthy. If she has something that is contagious it will harm your other tank inhabitants. You can get a critter keeper or something similar to use as a QT tank for a few weeks until you know she's healthy.

I second that, just having a smaller tank for QT is always useful anyway ^-^ Worth the couple of $ in the long term
