Do you have to cycle a tank if it's planted?

What size tank, stocking plans, number and species of live plants, type of filter...

If it is heavily planted it may cycle itself. But it would still be very helpful to have answers to some of Old Fish Lady's questions so you can get specific advice to your tank. There are a lot of factors that can affect cycling, and just because it may not need specific action on your part doesn't mean it will happen instantly and doesn't mean it's safe to add fish.
