thanks! and Howdy back!

I've hit up most of the PetsMart and PetCo in the area, and there are definitely some stores that are kept nicer than others. Thanks again for the info. I do not want any snails so I think I'm going to stick with the plants in the tubes.

I've had lousy luck with those tubed plants. Even if they look ok in the store, you take them out of the tube and they are a slimy mess. And they may say "snail free" but don't count on it. I had a snail explosion in one tank after adding one of those tubed plants. Luckily, I had an available assassin snail who took care of that issue for me.

Fortunately I found a not too distant LFS that has plant tanks stocked with assassin snails and clown loaches, so I can get healthy plants without snail issues.

Maybe he doesn't take naps in the tube because he can't get air from the surface when he's inside it? When I get a tube I'm going to suction it so the top is just above the water line, that way he can casually take little blips while resting inside. Blips are my word for when he breaths from the surface. That's the sound it makes sometimes. :)

Hmm that could be a possibility. There is a bit of the tube that sticks above the water line. I may try to raise it higher above the water line and see what happens.

Thank y'all!~

My betta Mondo is a weird sleeper too, he has his cave but he like to sleep on the suction cup that holds the heater to the tank. I'm planing on getting him one of those leaf things they can lay on from the pet store.

Haha I have two of those leaf hammocks in the tank, Popcorn does not touch either of them!! Seriously make a plastic canvas tunnel, way cheaper than any toy and the fish loves it!

And I secured the tunnel a little higher up in the water line. He's able to rest inside the tunnel and thinks of it as his room.

Go to a Michael's, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn Fabrics. Any kind of place that sells arts and crafts. Just ask for plastic canvas used for cross stitching/needlework. You'll also need some fishing line.

I made the plastic canvas hammock AND HE LOVES IT!!! Thank you so much for the idea!!

That stuff is so amazing in fact, that I used it to make a baffle as well. I'd been struggling to get the flow gentle enough so that it doesn't push him around and that did the trick!!
