Sick fish?

Ok so I got Baja this past summer, and he has always been incredibly active up until like 2 weeks ago. He pretty much changed overnight with his activity level. Now since I have returned to school with him, he just lays at the bottom pretty much right on the rocks. His breathing is elevated and he no longer eats or even really swims at all anymore. His water is always at about 77 degrees in a 1 gallon bowl. I changed his water at the beginning of the week when I got back to school in hopes that he would perk up a bit but nothing has improved. He used to always be right at the top of the tank when it was feeding time and now nothing...at all. I've considered the old age possibility but he literally changed over night from crazy attack fish to bowl ornament. Also he seems kind of head heavy like his head sinks and his back end floats a bit higher. I'm at a complete loss, any ideas? I love Baja and want to do whatever I can to help him. Thanks.

How often are you cleaning his tank?Water quality is always the first thing that sould be ruled out when diagnosing an ill fish. A 1g needs to be changed 100% every 2-3 days.

I usually do a complete change once a week. I'll try increasing it and see how that goes. Thanks.
