Betta- Scarred/scabby forehead?

Hi! I've had my betta for about six months. When I got him he was a tiny little dude, and hadn't even fully developed his fins, so I don't think he's that old yet. He is in a 6 gallon tank, kept at ~76 degrees F and water changed regularly. It is planted. He seems very healthy. He is a voracious eater and a lively swimmer. But he has rough looking scabby/scarred bits on his face. They are not white or puffy looking, it just looks kind of like someone burned him and it healed over. It seems like this has gradually worsened over time. He also has shiny patches on his gils/face but from thread browsing that seems like a normal part of betta aging? Any idea what it would be and if I can fix it? Thanks!

Parasites can cause this, Have had it appear in several new fish I got.
They seem totally find otherwise,
After treatment it totally cleared.
May be your problem or may not be.
Some betta's do have spots as you describe and they are normal.
