What I do with mine is, I take them out and scrub them out of the tank with an old toothbrush and run them under hot water.

When I used them, I used a toothbrush and hot water. But the one had algae stains on it from when I had an algae bloom. I read soaking them in hydrogen peroxide works. I tried it, and it did make the stains lighter. I think if I had used fresher peroxide and let them soak longer it may have did more good. When I was finished, I soaked it in hot water for a while to make sure there was no h202 left in them.

I take 'em out, run them under very warm water and rub off the nastyness with my hands or a soft cloth.

Same here but for anything really stubborn, i use some kosher salt. it works great as an abrasive.

i rinse well under hot water afterwards and then rinse in a bucket with conditioned water just to be safe.

I clean mine in watered down bleach water and that kills all the algae
