How many live plants?

I am new to the proper and humane care of bettas. I have had two bettas for approx. a year but when one began looking like it had fin rot I began researching which lead me here. Now I have a 5g hex and a 3g tank. I want to have the tanks cycled and use same live plants. How many live plants can I put in a tank without having co2 issues? Thanks for all the help I have received from this forum.

Its about getting the type of plant. Some plants require more care but some easy easy ones are

Anubias Nana
Java Fern
Amazon Sword
Wendtii Red/Green

Co2 Is super super easy you can put one in your tank. Mines completely homemade if you need any help i can give you some steps haha

If you like color other than green, I highly recommend Red Frill (from Australia) And Red Ludwigia. I got both for very inexpensive at Petsmart, and they are the best growing plants that I've ever introduced to my tank.

Another fun one (it takes time, so be patient) are the ever popular "betta bulbs." You essentially just drop them in the tank and let them sprout.

Most tanks will not have Co2 issues when dealing with size less than 10 or even 29 gallons. But a home made CO2 diffuser can be made with a 2 liter pop bottle, 5 dollars of brewers yeast, a package of sugar, and last you a year.

*I should add. You asked numbers and I didn't really even answer.

Start with just 1 or 2 bunches. and plant around the back of your aquarium. It will seem very sparse at first, but as time goes on, your plants will begin to flourish and nearly take over your aquarium. So you don't need to buy as many early on as you think you need.
