Well, you may want to take a look at your community to see what sells best (ask the stores, or ask around). On here with a good number of Betta lovers you will have a high chance of many people liking that particular color. However also remember that color is not the only "preferred" thing about these fish - tail type can also determine how well they sell/find homes.

Sorry, did not mean to hijack your thread atb. From what I understand indjo, the black head is actually influenced by the black gene, but by a different one than melano or Cambodian. It could be considered the normal black gene, or wild type and is dominant and as such is lighter than the recessive blacks.

Atb, there seems to be no popular blue right now. What could increase the appeal of certain fish is if they sport very unique individual characteristics, like a pattern for example.

Ah, Okay. That makes sense . . . I mean anything influencing color, pattern, or form should be caused by genes. Right? But since it didn't seem to be caused by the normal black genes, thus it must be a different kind of black gene.
