New or used :)

I was wondering if its ok to buy a used tank (& if so i there anything to watch out for besides cracks,& leaks & should the tank be set up & running for me to see it first,or is it ok to buy empty) or is it just much better to go w/ new & save all the headaches ?

I have the cash to buy new, i just usually try not to spend more than i need to

oh & are the wrought iron stands ok ? (new/used)

Im still trying to decide what size (gallonwise) to go with only because its 1 betta fish per tank & our house is small, & i know i already want to get more...

Used is fine as long as it has no leaks, etc... If you get a tank over 6 (some say 5) gallons, you can divide it into two. The larger the tank, the more you can divide it.

Used it just fine!! Just clean it well, and it's fine. Check out craigslist. I got a 10 gallon with gravel, LOTS of decor and other goodies, and a filter all for 20 bucks. :)

I have a 5 gallon divided... it is pushing it. I would like to upgrade my boys sometime. Personally, my 5 gallon is my least favorite sized tank. Just because it is too small to add tank mates, and a little to small to divide. JMO.

Im wondering if your buying a used empty tank how do you know it doesnt leak ..unless you just take the owners word on it....

Tell them to fill it with water. Get them to run the filter as well.

People are usually pretty honest. They just want to sell the tank already. I got the lady that sold me my 10g to bump the price from 30 to 20.. LOL
