Insects? I really don't think it's good for them.lol They can eat freeze-dried blood worms and freeze-dried brine shrimp, but no insects.

Fruitflies are good :) I've seen mine pick at flies but never eat them (fruitflies they go crazy for though :P).

Wingless fruit flies, meal worms, chopped pinhead crickets and chopped worms ie red wrigglers are all good. They are insectivores after all. I would avoid insects found in the house or garden because if they have any sort of pesticide or disease or secrete toxic substances (ie formic acid in ants I believe) you are doing more harm than good.

Also you can get the same effect from chitinous food ie daphnia or krill.

Actually it's their main diet in the wild! Hence the upturned mouths for feeding at the surface.

Oh and if insects seem to risky baby and adult brine shrimp work just as well for live food :).

can you pick some of these insects at the local pet store?? or if not any suggestions?? On top of that how often to feed these insects to the Betta, as many times as you would a bloodworm?

Yeah a pet store is your best bet because they have been fed that freaky vitamin gel stuff.

Feed them as often as bloodworms.

Another thing you can try feeding your betta is shrimplets if you have cherry shrimp or ghost shrimp.
