Please help, bubbles burst

now this is my second spawn. both male and female are ready and well conditioned and the female is so bloated with eggs. she'd explode. now I have the male in the tank (the same tank they spawn in before) and he tries to build his nest, but whenever he creates a bubble, it bursts immediately. he calls the female to then nest but when she goes there, there is no nest. what's wrong? bad water or something ??? this is very aged water, more than a week with a strong air stone in it (not stagnant). any ideas ??
now I have the female locked in a transparent plastic container in the spawning tank with the male loose.
plz help

I would take the airstone out. It's probably creating too much water movement for the male to build a nest.

the air stone was in the stocked water (where I age my water), for the spawning tank, the surface is so still

the only thing that's different from the first spawn was gravel. this time it is a bare bottom tank. I'll add gravel and see if it would help

well, before i move the gravel in, i noticed that he could build a few bubbles, so i gave him a chance, a couple of hours later they spawned in the smallest nest i could imagine. Hope this batch is not doomed.

Some males dont use nests or don't build them until after spawning.

Maybe it is the case. He is now in a huge, I mean HUGE nest full of eggs.
