flakes

Hi, if i buy some flakes for my betta, what is a good brand/type that gives my betta the nutrients it needs? This wont be my main food source, just pellets are too big for my fish and i dont have time in the morning to crush the pellets because i have to go to school early.

I personally don't like flakes because it contaminates the water faster and you can't closely watch the rations. If you don't have time in the morning to crush the pellets, why don't you do it after school or at night and leave them in the food cap so they're all ready for you in the morning? But, it's totally up to you.

I feed flakes occasionally as a way to mix up the diet but I wouldn't feed them regularly.. I would crush them before hand like BFC said. What brand of pellets are you using.. maybe we could suggest ones that are smaller?

I have the brand wardley. I would like to get flakes for diet diversity, like you said 1fish, and a back up just in case i forget to crush the pellets the night before.

I heard that tropical fish flakes with shrimp work.

I use tropical fish flakes and there is also Omega One Betta Buffet flakes that are really good. But I'll warn you.. if your going to feed flakes more than once a week you might have to do more water changes bc they really do mess up the tank faster.

Yeah.. the flakes I'm using right now are a trial packett TetraMin. I haven't had any problems with them so far.. but I only feed flakes once or twice a week.

I use Wardleys and some of the pellets do come in clumps, but I just break them apart. A lot of people on here use Hikari pellets. They say they're a lot smaller.

A whole bunch of people on another forum are boycotting Hikari... something about they changed their formula... I don't buy the hype.. I've never used Hikari but them changing the formula wouldn't keep me from buying it (the price would LOL)
