Argh!

UGHHHH! Schwimmy has decided to be a tail biter! He had a beautiful long veil tail..not it's about half a inch long! I came home from school one day and BAM no tail. So I put a pinch of aquarium salt in and some bettafix. I don't know why he's decided to do it all of a sudden. Nothing has really changed. I put another plant in there and I thought that caused it so I took it out and he is still biting! Any suggestions on why he's doing it?
His tank is 82 degrees
It's a 2.5 gal.
And I change it twice a week (100%)

Is he showing signs of stress? Are there any other fish in there?

Nope. NO signs of stress. And he's by himself. Which is what is frusterating!

What sorts of decorations do you have? Sometimes betta fish will also bite their tail if they get bored. Try putting something colourful next to his tank to try and distract him.

OOOH! I have an Idea (if you dont have this already), try something he can hide in. If he's in a busy, or bright room 24/7, that might be why. Betta fish will go mad if they are in light 24/7.

I have a plant and a terra cotta pot in there. I put a turtle figurine in there and he started biting his tail. SO I took it out. His tail started to grow back. Then I put another little soft plant in there and he started biting his tail again. I don't know what's causing him to bite it. Because I took the turtle out and he stopped. And I took the little plant out and I think he stopped. But I'm not sure. It's making me want to pull my hair out!

He could be one of those bettas who just plainly hate change. I know some bettas who cannot stand a water change, period. Same with those with change of scape.

That's what I figured. So he'll have to live with his one plant and terra cotta pot. *Sighs*
